A few more finishes ...

No rotation this week for me ... and I think I'll be putting my rotation on hold for the rest of the month. I have some more 4th of July stitching I want to do and I over committed myself to exchanges so that's what I'll be doing the rest of June.

So besides stitching on exchanges I've been doing some finishing ... and loving it!!! It's nice to have these out of the finish drawer ... I stitched Celebrate Freedom (Bent Creek Snapper) last year. I finished it into a hanging pillow. The backing fabric is the fabric it's sitting on. I just love how it turned out!

My next finish is a pinkeep. Faye stitched these for me last year in the Fair and Square 4th of July exchange .. adorable!
and here's the back ... I put the name square on an angle so everything fit ...

Melita stitched this for me 2 years ago in the Fair and Square exchange ... I had fun playing with all the beads ...

And last is my scissor fob. This is the Lizzie*Kate Spring fob. Karen had stitched the design for the Lizzie*Kate exchange and finished it into a floss tag ... now I have a matching floss tag and scissor fob :)

No more blogging for me this week ... Terry and I will be heading out of town for a long weekend away to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary ... yep 35 years!!! can't hardly believe it's been that long :) Our anniversary is actually the 14th (Monday) but we're going to go play Friday through Sunday ... I'm really looking forward to getting away.

Lazy in Ramadhan

I think I should firstly put this up on my About page: Sleeps long, and at odd times. Today, was just one more day, where the author of this rocking blog, spent an entire day, sleeping. The counterargument arrives later at night. When I speak to myself, “Its all good, if I can work at night.” All good? Maybe yes. I do a lot of work, but the way the night is designed. The darkness, the silence, it all eats you up. A few nights like this, and the feeling of emptiness looms all day. And the reader might raise his hand, and say, “Me, too”. Its lazy Ramadhan. A lot of people get into the Ramadhan mode. Pray a lot. Spend a lot of time reciting/understanding the Koran, and even more in the mosque. For those who don’t, it’s a time to start the fast early morning, hit the bed, and wake up at the time when its all over, and one can restart eating. This has been the fate of a few of my fasts. No choice but to join the party

17th day of fasting. From friday onwards, the fifteen day vacations will begin. I slept a good sleep after Sehri (breakfast). Somehow, I manage to get up by half past seven. Actually, its always, like that. No matter how much sleep is still left. No matter how late I have been working, and then hitting bed. I wake up, seven thirty, on the dot. The problem of course is, that I am left with very little time to get to my first class at university. I could easily add those classes lost, and end up with a terrible grade, and short attendance. An issue. A quick, bare bones shower, and a bit of deodorant. I am up and running on my way to the university. Its 8:00am. I can imagine: My class full of students. My teacher talking about real important, life changing, or exam related stuff. I drive. It’s a boring 10 minutes drive. The first three minutes are nervous. My car’s radiator, is icy cool. AWESOME...SIMPLY AWESOME!

I was driving into our apartment’s parking area when my eldest daughter spotted an incredible stellar phenomenon last night, December 1. “Look, the moon is smiling. Two eyes and a smile,” said Dinie. We gazed out the car’s windows and there it was ..the smile and the bright, sparking eyes in the western night sky. Instantly a thought crossed my mind that Allah had sent a cheerful SMS, a Smiley to us mankind, like a year-end holiday greeting or something. It sure cheered me up. It couldn’t have happened at a better time than last night when my entire family is grieving the loss of a family member over the weekend. My niece’s hubby, Abdul Rahim, succumbed to renal failure on Saturday. All of us had returned to Alor Setar upon being informed of the death to be with Aziah and her four children. The burial was held on Sunday morning. It is my wish that the “Smiley” would help my niece Aziah and her children to bounce back from this setback in their lives and move on with renewed strengt
