Here's the real reason I love going to Myrtle Beach every October ... great friends that I miss so much because they live in Ohio, NY and NC ... but when we are together it seems like no time has past ... Char, Laurie, Chris and Patti .. love you!
and this group of crazy ladies from NC and SC ... a few I met through blogging and exchanges before meeting them "live" in MB ... and a few I met for the first time last year ... they are a fun loving group of ladies that I really enjoy spending time with ... Sandra, Faye, Linda, Charleen, Lynn, and Karen ... love you guys!
Now here's a smiley bunch ... Carol, Fiona, Karen, Nicole, Chris and Diane ... keep me laughing all week!

omgosh these tshirts where so funny!!! I really wanted a Bitch 3 one :)

Three wonderful designers joined us this year ... Tanya (far right) of The Scarlett house. This was the only picture I got of Tanya. What a sweet lady and so talented. She does these amazing samplers and cutesy designs too ... I have her newest one, Jingle All The Way and just love it!
The second designer at the retreat was Paulette of Plum Street Samplers ... she's a hoot! I felt like I've known her for ever ... probably because I read her blog and know all about her and her family ... she brought her newest designs with her. I feel in love with Turkey Love and can't wait to start it ... Fiona, Paulette, Carol, Amy and Tracy ... I sure enjoyed sharing a table with all of you funny funny ladies ...

The third designer was Marie of Blackberry Lane Design. Unfortunately I didn't get one picture of Marie :( But I did get some fabulous purple Halloweeny fabric from her to stitch her new design Goblins on Parade. This was Marie's 2nd year attending the retreat. I hope it's not her last one.

So there you have it ... lots of smiling reasons for why I love attending this retreat. Looks like I have enough for one more post about the Pals Fall Fling ... exchanges, finishes and a few goodies. Thanks for all your comments ... love hearing from you.

I was driving into our apartment’s parking area when my eldest daughter spotted an incredible stellar phenomenon last night, December 1. “Look, the moon is smiling. Two eyes and a smile,” said Dinie. We gazed out the car’s windows and there it was ..the smile and the bright, sparking eyes in the western night sky. Instantly a thought crossed my mind that Allah had sent a cheerful SMS, a Smiley to us mankind, like a year-end holiday greeting or something. It sure cheered me up. It couldn’t have happened at a better time than last night when my entire family is grieving the loss of a family member over the weekend. My niece’s hubby, Abdul Rahim, succumbed to renal failure on Saturday. All of us had returned to Alor Setar upon being informed of the death to be with Aziah and her four children. The burial was held on Sunday morning. It is my wish that the “Smiley” would help my niece Aziah and her children to bounce back from this setback in their lives and move on with renewed strengt

Lazy in Ramadhan

I think I should firstly put this up on my About page: Sleeps long, and at odd times. Today, was just one more day, where the author of this rocking blog, spent an entire day, sleeping. The counterargument arrives later at night. When I speak to myself, “Its all good, if I can work at night.” All good? Maybe yes. I do a lot of work, but the way the night is designed. The darkness, the silence, it all eats you up. A few nights like this, and the feeling of emptiness looms all day. And the reader might raise his hand, and say, “Me, too”. Its lazy Ramadhan. A lot of people get into the Ramadhan mode. Pray a lot. Spend a lot of time reciting/understanding the Koran, and even more in the mosque. For those who don’t, it’s a time to start the fast early morning, hit the bed, and wake up at the time when its all over, and one can restart eating. This has been the fate of a few of my fasts. VITILIGO (Pronounced /Vertil~eye~go)

I know of a school friend suffering from this skin disorder. Oh my, how he suffered… He didn’t have many friends in school then and I’m sure, doesn’t have many, still. With those white patches on his hands and cheeks, my friend was, how should I say, not normal. Most students shunned him. He was a social outcast, of sort. I cannot recall seeing him at any of our gatherings…you know… parties, campings etc. He was a bright student but was reclusive because of the condition, sopak as we know it in Malay. He didn't mix around much, avoided crowd. Surely he was ashamed of his condition. Depressed, his results were in the red zone, his studies were effected, future doomed. We were of not much help either. We didn’t know what to do to lift his spirit because we knew next to nothing about the condition. He didn’t do well in school and after Form 5, returned to his kampung in Baling to help his father tap rubber. We wrote to each other a few years after school. Then his letters stoppe
