Peeking it to say hi ...

It's been a long three weeks around here. On July 27th my Dad had total knee replacement surgery on his right knee. I took off a week from work when he went home from the hospital to help him out around the house. After the 1st week of him being home I went in to the hospital for a scheduled hysterectomy. My brother and one of dad's neighbors took over taking care of him while I did my surgery and am now home and recuperating. Dad's doing really great! He's walking with a cane only, still can't drive and is still enjoying being waited on :) Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my surgery and all in all I'm doing pretty good. Terry and the boys have been taking good care of me. 4 more weeks and I should be as good as new :)


When I arrived home from the hospital I had a package from Kathy waiting for me. Inside was the sweetest gift ... she found some Wizard of Oz fabric that reminded her of me so she whipped it into a project bag and sent it to me ... I just love it!

It's now the new home of my wip, Home of a Needleworker (two) ... I worked on it while taking care of my dad ...

Before my surgery I stitched up this freebie by primitivebettys ... I just love sunflowers so this was a must stitch for me. Not sure when it will get finish finished ... not really feeling up to dragging the sewing machine out quite yet ... I stitched it on some coffee dyed by me fabric and used these threads GA Sunburst, Victorian Motto Red 24, CC Caterpillar, BS Noir and Creme de Menthe. I really like how it turned out ...

Kim was my partner over on the Fair and Square exchange blog for the BBD design round. Here are the squares she stitched for me. They are lovely and stitched over one! I can't find pictures of what I stitched for her ... hopefully they'll turn up.



I've been stitching a bit while recovering from my surgery ... not as much as I wish, but a little here and there ... hopefully as I continue to feel better I'll get more stitching done. But for now, I'm off to nap ...

Happy First Day of Summer! Although around here you'd never know it ... we had a very unseasonably wet and cold Spring. We've only had a couple of days that were over 70 degrees ... wonder what July and August will be like? BRAIN DRAIN = BRAIN DEAD

Please help me understand… Why is it that when GLCs' top officials get hefty pay raise - one today received a huge sum - they deserved it? Their salaries must be adjusted upwards or else…brain drain, or something, so said a wise man. Those foreign companies would gleefully employ them and offer fatter salaries. These bigshots would take up the offers, wouldn’t they? Okay… but I still don’t get it. Am I right to say that these “terrer merrer” bigwigs at GLCs, which in turn are owned by Khazanah, which in turn is owned by the government, whose members are put there by the rakyat, whom the government is asking to be thrifty in their spendings because of soaring costs in everything, which would soon include higher energy tariff imposed by one GLC which is headed by the CEO who had gotten the handsome raise, are to be spared the hardship which we, the 98 percent other Malaysians, are suffering from? Didn't we put them there to solve our problems, to look after our wellbein...

Lazy in Ramadhan

I think I should firstly put this up on my About page: Sleeps long, and at odd times. Today, was just one more day, where the author of this rocking blog, spent an entire day, sleeping. The counterargument arrives later at night. When I speak to myself, “Its all good, if I can work at night.” All good? Maybe yes. I do a lot of work, but the way the night is designed. The darkness, the silence, it all eats you up. A few nights like this, and the feeling of emptiness looms all day. And the reader might raise his hand, and say, “Me, too”. Its lazy Ramadhan. A lot of people get into the Ramadhan mode. Pray a lot. Spend a lot of time reciting/understanding the Koran, and even more in the mosque. For those who don’t, it’s a time to start the fast early morning, hit the bed, and wake up at the time when its all over, and one can restart eating. This has been the fate of a few of my fasts.
